The Memorial Hall of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea is a unique thematic memorial in China that fully reflects both the War and the Movement to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. It covers an area of 182,000 square meters and consists of the memorial tower, the memorial hall, the panorama hall and the national defense education park with a collection of more than 20,000 cultural relics.
The memorial tower is 53 meters high, symbolizing the great victory in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea in 1953. Seven gilded Chinese characters, “The Memorial Tower of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea”, written by Comrade Deng Xiaoping, are inlaid on the frontage of the tower and 621 characters are engraved on the back of the tower recording the heroic achievements of the Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV). The memorial hall covers an area of 23,000 square meters. With the main exhibition theme of “Assist the DPRK against US aggression and safeguard China's national security”, it gives a full, objective and true reappearance of the glorious history of both the War and the Movement to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. More than 150 pieces of important equipment are displayed in the National Defense Education Park. They were used during the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea and in the process of the development of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA). A large panoramic painting of the Battle of Encirclement and Annihilation by Chongchon River, which is 132.15 meters in circumference and 16 meters in height, is on display in the panorama hall. It vividly reproduces the spectacular scene and the grand atmosphere of the war when the CPV besieged and annihilated the United Nations forces during the Second Campaign.
